Ingrid Jacobson (Germany)

likes to make all kind of boxes. Her work is made of a specially prepared, highley grogged red or grey clay. The pieces are thrown or assembled from slabs of clay, then modelled and painted with slip. The inside is glazed with a feldsparglaze, while the outside is treated with copperoxide. The glazefiring is done in an electric kiln with an oxidising atmosphere to a temperature of 1160 C. As a last step the liquid gold is applied and fired again at 740 C.
